Q: What does it cost to offer membership in the credit union to my employees?
A: Rivermark Community Credit Union membership is a completely free employee benefit. There are no costs to our employer partners. We even provide all marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, and promotional gift items free of charge. We only ask for the opportunity to serve your employees.

Q: What benefits do you offer to my employees once we become partners?
A:
We offer all of the “traditional” banking services such as Checking, Savings, Holiday and Tax Accounts, and Short-term investments. We also offer services that you won’t find anywhere else such as low-cost Payday Advance Loans, debt/budget counseling, and a series of free financial seminars (such as how to read your credit report and avoiding ID Theft).

Q: What is in it for Rivermark to provide the materials and offer these services free of charge?
A: We are able to build our relationships with potential members. We have over 50 years of experience in offering credit union membership as a benefit. In fact, our employer partner program is largely responsible for our history of healthy growth.

Q: Why should I offer Rivermark Community Credit Union to my staff?
A: It’s a free benefit you can add to your benefit package. Every year employers lose untold production from employees with financial worries. Most employers offer employee assistance programs to help employees with personal and emotional problems. However, these programs do not address financial hardships. Rivermark offers a wide range of financial planning assistance as well as free professional debt counseling. This benefit will round out your benefits package without adding extra costs or administrative hassles.

Q: What is the difference between a bank and a credit union?
A: The simple answer is saving money and value.

Credit unions are not-for-profit, cooperative financial institutions that are owned by their members. They exist solely to serve the financial needs of those members. In fact, credit unions are governed by a volunteer board of directors.

The biggest difference between a bank and a credit union is the ownership structure. Banks are either privately owned or public companies. Therefore, their primary function is to earn profits for their owners. Credit union’s profits are returned to members in the form of higher deposit rates, lower loan rates, and a better range of products and services.

Q: Are you affiliated with trade unions?
A: No, while we have several trade unions that offer the credit union as a benefit to their membership we are not a trade union.
